The Cure est un groupe de rock britannique formé en 1976 à Crawley, West Sussex. Mené par Robert Smith, chanteur, guitariste et principal compositeur, le groupe est une icône du post-punk et du rock gothique, connu pour ses mélodies atmosphériques, ses textes poétiques et son esthétique visuelle unique.

Histoire

Formé initialement sous le nom de Easy Cure, The Cure émerge avec Robert Smith, Michael Dempsey (basse), Lol Tolhurst (batterie) et Porl Thompson (guitare). Leur premier album, *Three Imaginary Boys* (1979), établit leur style post-punk. Les albums *Seventeen Seconds* (1980), *Faith* (1981) et *Pornography* (1982) définissent le son gothique sombre du groupe. Ils atteignent un succès mondial avec des albums plus accessibles comme *The Head on the Door* (1985) et *Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me* (1987). *Disintegration* (1989) est un sommet artistique. Après des hauts et des bas, le groupe reste actif, avec un nouvel album, *Songs of a Lost World*, sorti en 2024.
